Happy New Year!

Hope everyone had a safe, fun New Year’s celebration … and here’s a toast to a happy, healthy 2014!

Christmas went by so quickly — with so much to do (and don’t even get me started on Hannukah, which was so weirdly timed this year) — that I only had time to send out .02 cards. So I caught up on New Year’s, but I put them in the mail so fast, I didn’t take any photos! Also, I didn’t make many, so I turned some of my plain generic cards from my stash into New Year’s cards. Here are two:

The cool paint dripping background stamp is from Hero Arts, inked with Ranger Distress Inks, spritzed with a bit of water. The Penny Black cityscape was heat embossed with American Crafts’ Zing teal. Yum. All I did was stamp a bunch of Happy New Year sentiments, cut them out and pop them on with dimensional foam. Thank goodness for my stash of un-marked cards!

Last month I cut up a bunch of paper odds-and-ends and created these diagonal mosaics. I love this technique. So fast and easy, and it feels SO good using up scraps!

Happy New Year, everyone. And thanks for stopping by!

Fabulous Finds Friday — Gelatos

Gelato … yum. Even though these Gelatos are not the kind you eat, they are still creamy and delicious. I’ve long been a fan of these coloring sticks from Faber-Castell, but now beginners can find an easy way to get started with this new kit:

Here’s what comes inside:

Besides a set of Gelatos, the kit also has a mister, foam stamp, cardboard stencil, eye dropper, gesso, paint brush, instruction book and a sample of different surfaces to play on.

Here’s a quick card made using Gelatos and odds and ends from my desk:

(lattice die from Spellbinders, skyline stamp from Penny Black; sentiment from Hero Arts.)

Thanks for coming by … have a great weekend!

Fabulous Finds Friday: Chevron Punch

Chevrons are still oh-so-trendy, so imagine my delight with this new *chevron punch from Stampin’ Up!

Check out this quick card that highlights the punch design:

(The sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!‘s Wonderful Words set and the darling bird is part of Besty’s Blossoms. The bird was embossed using American Crafts’ Zing lavender. The pretty branch is a die from Penny Black, and it was the perfect fit here.)

There’s an added bonus with this punch — the punched out pieces create another chevron!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend.

Fabulous Finds Friday — To Die For

I am now addicted to dies. I love dies that are so delicate I could never cut them myself, I love dies that match stamps, I love dies that let me cut multiples of something…I love dies!

Here’s a pretty one from Penny Black stamps:

The daisy die is called Bashful. The sentiment is also from Penny Black. The background paper is an old one from The Robins Nest (I distressed the edges then added yellow ink) and the daisy chain ribbon is from Making Memories.
