Fast & Easy New Year Card

I don’t always get my Christmas cards out in time (and forget Hanukkah … even though it’s eight days long, sometimes the days fly by! Especially if the holiday comes early …)

But, lucky for me, there’s always a second chance to send a winter holiday card for the … New Year!

Here is a fast and easy card I made with my new Simon Says Stamp Quadrangle Frame die:

I doesn’t get much easier. I die cut the frames from gold, black and silver scraps of card stock. Before gluing them down, I gold embossed the Hero Arts sentiment in the lower corner (using Zing! gold glittery powder). I glued the squares in place and added some Sulyn star sequins. My glue of choice for everything was ScraPerfect’s Best Glue Ever, which I have been using a lot lately, finding it a great glue for multiple purposes. (Check it out here and see more of ScraPerfect’s great products on the Web site. I’ll be talking more about their products in a future post.)

Thanks for stopping by, and Merry Christmas to all.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone, and here’s hoping that 2015 is a year of health and happiness.

Since I had a day off, I created a few New Year cards. Enjoy.

I love this card for several reasons: first, it was so fast and easy to make! And second, I found a small stash of previously dry embossed card stock pieces that I had put away!
The silver embossed background was made using a Cuttlebug swirl folder. I simply cut it to size to fit the card front, edged it with a gold metallic marker, and glued it on the card. The greeting (Hero Arts Celebrate Everyday set) was embossed in gold, trimmed, and edged with the gold metallic pen. Silver sequin stars (Sulyn) and gold glitter stars (die cut using the set from Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Journaling die) were added using Ranger’s Glossy Accents. That’s it!

This was inspired by a New Year’s Eve ad I saw in a magazine a while ago. Also, super easy — I used a variety of circle stamps (all from Hero Arts in various sets) and embossed some in gold, some in silver (including Judikins Aegean Silver, which has a lot of sparkle). The sentiment was trimmed and layered over a scrap of gold paper, cut to the same proportions.

This was also fun. Using Sizzix’s Banner Triplets by Stephanie Bernard and some gold, silver and off-white scraps, I die cut my way to the New Year. When I glued the cut out pieces to the layering banner, some glue seeped out. At first i despaired, but then I added some ultra fine glitter and, hey, it’s not so bad. Same sentiment, but I added a little stamped and embossed bit for extra flavor. The silver Dew Drops (Robins Nest) and sequin stars (Sulyn) added the finishing touches.

Thanks for stopping by! And here’s to a great year!

Happy New Year!

Hope everyone had a safe, fun New Year’s celebration … and here’s a toast to a happy, healthy 2014!

Christmas went by so quickly — with so much to do (and don’t even get me started on Hannukah, which was so weirdly timed this year) — that I only had time to send out .02 cards. So I caught up on New Year’s, but I put them in the mail so fast, I didn’t take any photos! Also, I didn’t make many, so I turned some of my plain generic cards from my stash into New Year’s cards. Here are two:

The cool paint dripping background stamp is from Hero Arts, inked with Ranger Distress Inks, spritzed with a bit of water. The Penny Black cityscape was heat embossed with American Crafts’ Zing teal. Yum. All I did was stamp a bunch of Happy New Year sentiments, cut them out and pop them on with dimensional foam. Thank goodness for my stash of un-marked cards!

Last month I cut up a bunch of paper odds-and-ends and created these diagonal mosaics. I love this technique. So fast and easy, and it feels SO good using up scraps!

Happy New Year, everyone. And thanks for stopping by!

New Year’s Card and a quick Fabulous Find

Heavens! I believe this is my first post in the new year. Happy New Year everyone!

Since I was, ahem, a little late with some of my holiday cards, I covered nicely by sending out a few New Year’s cards, which was actually kind of fun. Here is a random card I dressed up for New Year’s:

(Argh, what a blurry picture! I don’t drink, so I don’t know what my excuse is!! I did, however, shoot this photo on New Year’s Day.)

Bird stamp by Martha Stewart; background done with various shimmer mists; bird painted with Twinkling H2Os.

And my Fabulous Find for this Friday is this lip-smacking packet from BasicGrey called Kissing Booth:

Doesn’t it just scream Valentine’s Day? I’ve already cut up a few pieces and will have some cards next week.

Thanks for stopping by… and here’s to a happy, healthy new year!
