Fabulous Finds Friday … At the Craft & Hobby Show

I survived the Create-n-Connect trade show put on by the Craft & Hobby Association, but I’m sure by now you have seen lots of other videos and reports directly from the show floor. My report will be coming soon on the Crafts ‘n things Web site (Aug. 9 and Aug. 12).

Needless to say, there are fabulous new stamps and dies and tools to be seen and lusted after! I’ll be spotlighting many of them within the next few weeks.

In the meantime, here’s a fun card made using an M-BossibilitiesTM embossing folder from Spellbinders:

The pretty shiny paper is from Core’dinations Gemstone pack that I ran through the embossing folder, then distressed the edges. The punch is from EK Success. I ran it through my Xyron Sticker Maker to get a nice, even adhesive with no muss.

Here’s a detail shot:

The bird is from Hampton Arts, the sentiment from Hero Arts, and the tiny metallic hot-fix embellishments are from Imaginisce.

Ah, the Sweet Smell of Scraps

I was in a groove, going through my hoarded scrapbook paper, using it up and having fun in the process.
First, I randomly covered card fronts with leftover paper:

(the blue/pink combos are from Hot Off The Press.)

Then I added images and embellishments:

Here’s a close-up of the embellies:

And another card:

Card for a teen:

How fun is the above image from American Art Stamp? The speech bubble is a Marvy punch; the “wheeee” is hand written. The images were colored with watercolor pencils.

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll be showing some fun embellishments on Friday!

Fabulous Finds Friday — Hot Fix Gems

Hot fix gemstones have been around a long time, but they never intrigued me… until I got a battery-operated, easy-to-use hot fix tool from Imaginisce. Now I want to put hot fix bling on everything! (So much easier than dealing with glue and tiny pieces.)

Take a look:

The rhinestones and metallic pieces have glue on the back. You simply touch your hot fix tool to the top, count to about 10, and it melts the glue.

Here’s a detailed look at the butterflies, which were embellished with Ranger’s Liquid Pearl Gold.

The flowers, butterflies and sentiments (all Hero Arts) were stamped in another Fabulous Find from the beginning of the year — ColorBox’s Limited Edition colors Plumeria (purple) and Mint (green), both chalk inks. Aren’t they deep and luscious? (the green flower on the left of the “Smiles” card was hand cut; the others were cut using matching Hero Arts/Sizzix dies.) The striped paper is some scrap stock I saved from an old folder. I attached the front and back using washi tape. The scalloped border used a Stampin’ Up! punch.
