Quick All-Purpose Card

Here’s a quick card I made while I was playing with some feather die cuts (from Spellbinders):

 

I haven’t added a greeting because I may use it for a fall birthday (this is a good masculine card) … or it may be for a Thanksgiving hello. The card base is 4 7/8 x about 7″, then folded in half. The bottom embossed design is from a Darice embossing folder. The leaves were cut from random scraps, then the tips were embossed in copper powder. This was so fast and easy!

Bella, Bella, Bella

In my last post, I showed off some of Bella Blvd’s new paper collection. (check it out here.)

Here are a few more creations:

I love this leaf paper … and I adore the feather dies from Spellbinders. (I keep looking for ways to use feathers!)
This is a simple card. I cut a piece of the leaves cardstock to create the front panel, leaving about a half inch on the top. I scored the top, then attached it to a plain white base to make a vertical card.

I tied a piece of hemp (Hemptique) around it (twice) and attached the feathers using various adhesives, including a dimensional dot.
I cut “Thanksgiving” from another paper in the set and attached it. However, I SHOULD have layered the word on another piece of paper to make it pop. Right now it fades into the background. (I debated pulling it off and redoing it, but figured I’d just mess it up!)
Oh, I edged the front with Distress Ink Vintage Photo brown.

This, too, was fast and easy — I cut a piece of the paper a bit smaller than the front of my folded A2 white card, edged it with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and adhered it. If I had a sewing machine, I would have stitched around it. Wouldn’t that be cute? Added the sticker and poof — it’s a card.

The Last of the Valentines!

Ah, sigh… it’s finally Valentine’s Day. I had so much fun making and sending Valentines to my girlfriends. My friends are heart-felt treasures and life would not be the same without them. When I looked at the big stack I had to send, I thought, “What a lucky girl am I.”

Most of these were fast and simple:

I adore this feather set from Close to my Heart! I could make a dozen of these cards, leave off the greeting, and have a stack ready for any occasion! The feathers were stamped on white card stock using various shades of mostly Hero Arts Shadow Inks and a blue Distress pad.

This, too, was fast and easy using the CTMH Oodles of Doodles set, Hero Arts inks and Hero Art hearts (embossed using American Crafts’ Zing powders). The pretty sequins are from Lawn Fawn.

And just to prove that crafting is not a perfect art, here’s one from my Imperfect Crafter side.
It’s actually cuter in person than it appears here. I needed ONE more Valentine, so I grabbed some leftovers on my desk. I’m showing this card because I always tell my workshop students that there are “no mistakes in crafting; only design elements.” So warts and all, here she is:

I was anxious to play with this tissue paper from Hazel & Ruby. And being the Impatient Crafter, as well as the Imperfect Crafter, I tore off a piece and glued it to my card base. I had a die cut heart that did not cut all the way through so I disguised the bad part with the Prima flowers. If you look VERY closely, you will see, peeking out from the upper left hand ventricle, part of the heart where it didn’t cut all the way through. But do we through anything away? Nope! We just carry on!
