Have you tried the EcoArt boards from Rubber Stamp Concepts? They are such fun and take all sorts of paint, ink, etc.

Revisiting the Carson Show

Oh, my … I never followed up with the rest of my photos from the Original Rubber Stamp show in Carson, CA.

Let’s take a quick peek:

A blast from my past…. when I first started stamping (and writing for the late, lamented Rubber Stamper magazine) I met Elaine Madrid of Carmen’s Veranda stamps. I was immediately in love with her quirky, artistic images. It was such a delight to find her at Carson!

Here are a few of her unique images:

Here is Elaine with another of my favorite crafty people, MaryJo McGraw, who I met while she was a demo artist with JudiKins. She has mad stamping skills and I learned so many cool techniques from MaryJo.

Also at Carson, I saw these cool acrylic overlays from Stamp On It:

The company also has a cling mount stamps at the Artful Stamper, so check those out.

And if you like big-eyed cuteness, check out Yumi & Fumi Handmade:

Fabulous Finds Friday — Checking in at Carson

It’s been a while since I’ve been to the Original Rubber Stamp Convention in Carson, CA. (Commonly called the Carson show.) I didn’t have time to shop (boo hoo) because the hubster was waiting in the car…. so I just ran in to take a few picks and say hello to some old friends. Here are some fabulous, fun finds.

First up, the dynamic duo of Judi Watanabe and Rob Bostick of JudiKins.

Judi demoed a technique using Mica Magic reinkers to create some stunning backgrounds:

Rob showed me the new Frosty White embossing powder, here used to stunning effect on red cardstock:

I think I need to get my hands on that powder!

Next week I’ll show some more fun finds — including some new (to me) companies and some old friends (Remember Carmen’s Veranda?)

Have a great weekend!

Fabulous Finds Friday — Wendy Vecchi

I hit the Original Rubber Stamp Convention in Carson, Calif., (fondly referred to as “the Carson show”) to see what was new and happening.

It was great make new discoveries and to see some familiar faces. The crowd was small, but enthusiastic. (I remember the early days of the Carson show when people would arrive an hour early and stand on line to get in!)

Today I will show you some fun new products from designer Wendy Vecchi, sold through Stampers Anonymous.

Wendy’s line, Studio 490, is fresh and funky and includes stamps, “art parts,” and three inspiration booklets.

Look at these fun projects you can design with Wendy’s stamps and “art parts,” starting with this cute little birdhouse:

Here are some more fun projects that can be made with Wendy’s kits:

And a rack of her stamps:

You can see more on Wendy’s blog: http://studio490art.blogspot.com. Come back the next few Fridays for more peeks from the Carson show, including a beautiful technique from Judikins, sassy new images from American Art Stamp, new products from Magenta, and a fabulous project kit from Darcie’s.

Have a great weekend!

Paula’s Best Foot Forward

Paula Best’s  fanciful designs include cats, dogs, fish and llamas, as well as pithy sayings. The beautiful artwork is such fun to color. Paula, who recently moved to New Mexico and is now selling her original paintings, showed up at the Carson show with new rubber, including unmounted dies and dies mounted on cling.

Paula Best now offers unmounted images.

Original Rubber Stamp Convention

As an intrepid reporter, I just had to go to the Original Rubber Stamp Convention this weekend in Carson, Calif. (At least, that’s what I told my husband…. that it was my JOB to go!) Although the vendor list was small, and the heat quotient high, there was still lots of good stuff. This week I will share some snapshots from the show.

Naturally, Tim Holtz was his usual star-studded self  at the Stampers Anonymous booth. Here’s Tim working his magic:

Tim has a cool new line of circus themed stamps. Here’s a sneak peak:

And a cool tag:

Also hard at work was the dashing and jovial Ted Cutts, who took over Stampers Anonymous from the delightful and artistic Ginny Carter. (Ted’s other companies include Art Gone Wild and Inky Antics.)

Stay tuned for more snaps from the show… and some exciting stamping news about an old company making a comeback!
